Phnom Penh: President of the Senate of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has shared his insights over Trump’s victory during the 2024 U.S. presidential election. ‘Although the election results in the United States have not been officially announced, the preliminary results show that Donald Trump has defeated his opponent and will be ready to be the new President of the United States!’ he wrote on his social media networks this evening.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen mentioned three points that contributed to Trump’s victory. Firstly, he highlighted that American society may not be ready to accept women as leaders, despite the United States being a pioneer of gender democracy. This, he noted, positions the U.S. behind ASEAN countries, which have had female leaders, including Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Secondly, he suggested that it might have been destined for Donald Trump to compete against women, as seen in the 2016 election against Hillary Cl
inton and again in 2024 against Kamala Harris, resulting in his success.
Lastly, he pointed out that before the election, Donald Trump communicated a message of peace and a stance against war, termed “pacifism.” This message resonated with voters, contributing to his electoral success. Samdech Techo Hun Sen remarked that Trump’s victory indicates that the American people prioritize peace over engaging entirely in conflicts with Ukraine and Israel.
