Cambodian PM to Co-Chair ASEAN-U.S. Leaders Meeting in the U.S.

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this morning said as the Chair of ASEAN, he would visit the U.S. in February 2022 to co-chair the ASEAN-U.S. Leaders Meeting with U.S. President H.E. Joe Biden.

This meeting was planned for last year, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said during his inspection visit to the construction site of Takhmao Techo International Airport in Kandal province.

The Premier continued that this is a message to a group of people who always raised that the U.S. has threatened his leadership.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also mentioned about the asset freezing sanction imposed by some foreign countries on some Cambodian nationals, stressing that it is just a political sign because those Cambodian citizens have no money or property in those countries.

“Be careful, that sanction can affect your own citizens as some Cambodians hold foreign nationalities,” he explained.
