Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reiterated his concern over the escalating tensions in Myanmar.

“The current situation in Myanmar has gradually moved towards a bigger civil war,” the Cambodian Premier said while presiding over the graduation ceremony of nearly 6,000 students of the Royal University of Law and Economics at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning.

“The situation in Myanmar is different from before. The five-point consensus (5PC) state only about preventing violence, creating dialogue, providing humanitarian assistance and finding solutions through negotiations,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed.

The Cambodian Premier said he had raised the need to update this issue (5PC) in previous ASEAN meetings.

The civil war would last a long time and the situation in Myanmar is as complicated as Cambodia had ever experienced, he continued, underlining that it was fortunate for Cambodia to exit civil wars through the Win-Win policy, but it is not certain that the Win-Win policy in Cambodia can be implemented in Myanmar.

“We therefore should be proud of this (Win-Win policy) and advance together towards the goal we want,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen added.
