Cambodian Para athletes have departed for the 4th Asian Para Games 2023, taking place in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, China, from Oct. 22 to 28.

Speaking at the Phnom Penh International Airport before departure, Mr. Mao Sokchea, Senior Official at the National Paralympic Committee, shared that the committee sent athletes for athletics, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and badminton.

Group disciplines, especially women wheelchair basketball, are expected to reach the qualifier round because they won a gold medal at the 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023 in Cambodia and a silver medal at the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 in Indonesia, he added.

For the women wheelchair basketball discipline, the Cambodian team will compete with teams from Laos, Japan, China, Iran, and Thailand on Oct. 19, 20, 21, 24, and 25, respectively, according to Mr. Muy Seu, Coach of Cambodia Wheelchair Basketball.
