Cambodian and Croatian Foreign Ministries Initiate Bilateral Consultations in Zagreb.


ZAGREB: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia (MFAIC) and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia convened their first session of Bilateral Consultations in Zagreb on November 5. This meeting marks a significant step in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Secretary of State at the MFAIC, and H.E. Frano Matušic, State Secretary of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The consultations emphasized the importance of strengthening Cambodia-Croatia relations, aiming to lay a robust foundation for deeper diplomatic, economic, and cultural collaboration, while promoting mutual understanding. The co-chairs discussed the shared histories of post-conflict recovery and recognized peace and human capital development as crucial pillars for lasting progress.

ewed commitment to enhancing Cambodia-Croatia ties for the benefit of both nations, setting the stage for the celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2026.

During his visit to Croatia, H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak led a Cambodian delegation to Rijeka Port, one of Croatia’s key maritime corridors. The delegation engaged in discussions with Mr. Denis Vukorepa, Executive Director of Rijeka Port, to explore potential cooperation between the ports of both countries. They were provided with a presentation on the port’s major projects and had the opportunity to visit significant ongoing projects.
