Phnom penh: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is set to preside over the 47th Extraordinary Session of the Ministerial Conference of la Francophonie in Paris, France. This significant event marks a crucial phase in the selection of the next Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) for the 2027-2030 term.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation highlighted that this extraordinary session, scheduled for June 30, will serve as a pivotal forum for representatives from OIF Member States. The session will involve a detailed evaluation of the visions and plans presented by the four candidates vying for the position of OIF Secretary General. The findings and recommendations from this meeting will then be forwarded to the leaders of the respective member states, who will finalize the selection at the 20th Summit of La Francophonie. This summit is planned for November 15-16, 2026, in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia.
