Cambodia Committed to Hosting the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029

Cambodia is committed to organising another major regional games – the 5th Asian Youth Games (AYG) in 2029 – as it successfully hosted the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023.

The commitment was highlighted by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in his remarks at the official closing ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games held here at the Morodok Techo National Stadium this evening.

“After the successful hosting of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, and with the authorisation of the Olympic Council of Asia, Cambodia is ready to host the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029,” he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that the AYG 2029 will be attended by larger sports delegations than the SEA Games.

Regarding the 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023, the Cambodian Premier expressed his congratulations to the sportsmanship of ASEAN para athletes, and highly appreciated the 12th ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee, ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF), sports delegates of the ASEAN nations and Timor-Leste for their participation and contribution to additionally enhance the value of para athletes, as well as to give full support to this regional event in Cambodia.

“As the host country, we have tried our best and ability to guarantee that the 12th ASEAN Para Games was held in accordance with the sports rules and standards of international para sports,” underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The Prime Minister also expressed his strong hope that the over 600 million people of the ten ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste would remember all good memories both in the framework of SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.
