Cambodia: Cambodia's State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on comprehensive strategic cooperation in the civil aviation sector. This agreement aims to bolster Cambodia's aviation industry through various initiatives, including technology transfer, human resource development, and technical cooperation.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the MoU was signed during Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet's official visit to China. The Prime Minister was in attendance at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference held from July 15 to 17. This partnership is designed to facilitate the development of Cambodia's civil aviation sector, enhancing technology transfer, human resource training, and airport maintenance. In addition, it is expected to improve the operational capacity of Air Cambodia, expand air connectivity, and boost the Kingdom's regional competitiveness.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet, COMAC Chairman and President Shen Bo provided insights into the company's business operations and its collaborative efforts with Cambodian partners. Shen emphasized that COMAC, known for its development of commercial aircraft like the C919 and C909 models, is eager to establish enduring partnerships. These partnerships would extend beyond aircraft sales to include maintenance services and capacity-building programs for Cambodia's civil aviation workforce.
Shen highlighted that these initiatives are designed to ensure sustainable business operations while aiding the modernization of Cambodia's civil aviation sector. Prime Minister Hun Manet acknowledged COMAC's successful operations in Cambodia, particularly its collaboration with Air Cambodia. He expressed support for COMAC's initiatives with the SSCA and Air Cambodia, particularly those focused on human resource development, which are anticipated to modernize Cambodia's civil aviation industry and enhance its global competitiveness.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the Royal Government's commitment to facilitating cooperation between COMAC and relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, notably the SSCA, to promote the effective implementation of the partnership.
