Police on Monday sought arrest warrants for two suspected accomplices in the recently detected installation of spy cameras at about 40 early voting stations ahead of the April 10 parliamentary elections. The announcement came a day after the district court in the western port city of Incheon issued a warrant to arrest a YouTuber in his 40s on suspicions of placing spy cameras at around 40 polling stations in Incheon, Seoul, Busan, Ulsan, Daegu and elsewhere, where early voting will take place. The YouTuber has previously raised election manipulation suspicions on his channel over the 2022 presidential election and other elections. During his recent investigation, he reportedly told police that he wanted to monitor the National Election Commission's manipulation of turnout rates for early voting. On Monday, Woo Jong-soo, the head of the National Office of Investigation, announced that police have applied for arrest warrants for two men in their 50s and 70s, respectively, on charges of helping the YouTuber in the suspected installation of the spy cameras. Charges against them include unlawful entry of properties and violations of the communications secret protection act. According to investigations, the three allegedly made mass purchases of cameras at online shopping malls and conspired together to install them.
