The 125 newly-elected lawmakers are convened to attend the inaugural session of the 7th legislature of National Assembly (NA) on Aug. 21, according to an announcement of the NA General Secretariat released this afternoon.

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, will preside over the forthcoming inaugural session.

Dignitaries, foreign ambassadors accredited to Cambodia and representatives of some non-governmental organisations will be invited to this auspicious and historical event.

After the inaugural session, the 1st session of the NA’s 7th legislature will be kick-started under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, the eldest NA member to decide on the validity of mandate of each member and adopt the internal regulation of NA’s 7th legislature.

The next day, Aug. 22, the NA will hold an election to choose its president, vice presidents, chairmen and deputy chairmen of each specialised NA commission and give a vote of confidence to the royal government.
