Cambodia: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is set to make an official visit to Malaysia in 2026 to co-chair the 3rd Cambodia-Malaysia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC). This development comes following an invitation from H.E. Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamed Bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the invitation was extended by H.E. Shaharuddin bin Onn, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia, during a meeting with H.E. Prak Sokhonn on June 3. The Deputy Prime Minister accepted the invitation with pleasure. The meeting highlighted the significant achievements in the cooperation between the two countries, covering areas such as high-level exchanges, political cooperation, defense and security, trade and investment, culture and education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Both officials also discussed preparations for the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Malaysia next year. The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Malaysia's role in facilitating the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and leading the ASEAN Observer Team as ASEAN Chair. He also conveyed confidence in Malaysia's continued support and provided an update on the current situation regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
