Vietnam to Help Organise E-Sports at SEA Games 2023

Vietnam is helping Cambodia to organise the e-Sports competitions at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia.

The news was shared following a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral e-sports cooperation between H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Chairman of Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sport Association (VIRESA) here in Phnom Penh on Sept. 7.

Through the agreement, Vietnam will help Cambodia in games organisation including decoration, as well as support for software, hardware and human resources such as arbitrators and judges, said H.E. Vath Chamroeun.

Vietnam will also provide training to Cambodian e-sports athletes from now on in order to develop their capacity and technical skill.

The cooperation was initiated by Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence and President of CAMSOC and H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President.

E-sports is one of the 39 sports listed for the SEA Games 2023.

The sport was also included in the SEA Games 2019 in the Philippines and SEA Games 2022 in Vietnam.
