Rabbit Island investment project worth US$130 million developed by Try Pheap Group has started construction on Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), 4 kilometres offshore from Kep province.
Construction activities kicked off on Sept. 22, after construction materials have been transported to the island, Mr. Vao Sokha, Deputy Governor of Kep province told AKP on Sept. 29.
The investment project got the green light from the Council for the Development of Cambodia in February 2019, focusing on multiple resort investment such as five-star hotels, residential zone, commercial buildings, beach resorts, cable car, and so on.
Mr. Vao Sokha said that the company is developing the project on 140 hectares and the development is divided into different stages.
“Koh Tonsay is a potential island for tourism. We have white beach around the island. This will contribute to attracting tourists to visit in the island,” he said.
Before Try Pheap Group, the government has granted investment licences to two companies to develop the island, but later on the licences have been revoked as the companies did nothing in the area.
