U.S. Embassy Extends New Year Wishes to Cambodians

The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh has extended best wishes to the Cambodian people on the occasion of the Khmer Traditional New Year.

“U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh had an amazing time celebrating Khmer New Year with the Mission community!” said the embassy this morning.

“Khmer New Year is a time for renewing old friendships, making new ones, and embracing the joy of the season. We want to wish our Cambodian friends a happy and prosperous new year filled with good health, happiness, and success,” the source underlined.

The Cambodian people will celebrate this weekend, from April 14 to 16, their traditional New Year, one of the biggest festivals in the country.

On April 14 at 16:00, the year of Rabbit will begin. The New Year’s angel is Kimirea Devy, the sixth daughter of Kabel Moha Prum.

Generally, people return to their homeland, go to pagoda, travel to different tourism destinations, and join various entertainment activities.
