Turkish Airlines to Launch Direct Istanbul-Phnom Penh Flights in December

Phnom penh: Turkish Airlines will operate direct flights between Istanbul and Phnom Penh starting Dec. 11, 2025, confirmed a senior official from the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, SSCA Secretary of State and Spokesperson, hailed the announcement as another milestone achieved under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, supported by the SSCA, the Ministry of Tourism, and other relevant institutions. ‘This direct route strengthens connectivity with Europe through Istanbul, Trkiye, which serves as a key hub for flights across the continent,’ he said.

He added that the launch of this new route reflects growing confidence in Cambodia’s aviation sector, bolstered by the new Techo International Airport – a landmark achievement of the Royal Government. The new connection is expected to boost international passenger traffic and tourism by linking Cambodia to Turkish Airlines’ global network of over 350 destinations in 130 countries.

According to SSCA data, Cambodia welcomed 4.08 million international air passengers during the first seven months of 2025, an increase of nearly 16 percent compared to the same period last year. Cambodia currently operates three international airports: the Techo International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, and Sihanouk International Airport.

Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak recently expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing support of the Turkish Embassy and Turkish Airlines, noting the airline’s recognition of Cambodia’s strong tourism potential. He stressed that Cambodia’s growth as an emerging market is rooted in peace, stability, and the Royal Government’s long-term vision, including major infrastructure projects such as the Techo International Airport.
