Special Credit Guarantee Scheme Launched to Support Priority Sectors

Phnom penh: The Special Credit Guarantee Scheme has been officially launched as a new financing instrument designed to support key government policies and priority sectors, including rice, cashew nuts, manufacturing, social housing development, and affordable housing.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the launching ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth. The event took place at the fifth anniversary of the Credit Guarantee Corporation of Cambodia (CGCC), jointly organised by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and CGCC on Jan. 27.

Under the newly launched scheme, business owners can directly apply to CGCC for a credit guarantee of up to US$10 million per loan, aimed at addressing working capital needs and facilitating business expansion.

Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth highlighted the vital role of credit guarantee mechanisms in promoting financial inclusion, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, while strengthening private sector development and economic resilience.

'Credit guarantee mechanisms have significantly contributed to increasing access to finance, supporting investment expansion and job creation, especially for youth, and strengthening market confidence through joint risk management,' he stated.

As of Dec. 31, 2025, CGCC had approved 9,556 credit guarantee accounts, supporting loans worth approximately US$521 million.
