Second EV Charging Station Launched

Another electric vehicle (EV) charging station was officially launched on Tuesday, bringing the number of EV charging stations in Cambodia to two as the government is promoting the use of electric vehicles and motorcycles.

The EV charging station is at Caltex gas station, located in Sangkat Prey Sar, Khan Dangkor in southern Phnom Penh.

Speaking at the launching event, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, said that the number of EV registrations increased by 700 percent, from 7 vehicles in the first quarter of 2021 to 47 vehicles in the first quarter of 2022.

The first EV charging station was launched in March at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport with the support of UNDP.

The third EV charging station will be inaugurated in Sihanoukville on Wednesday, while the other two will be launched in Battambang and Siem Reap provinces next month.
