SEA Games Volleyball Competition Kicks Off Today

Volleyball competition at the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games hosted by Cambodia kicked off today at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh with Men’s Indoor events.

Cambodian national team will meet Singaporean national team in Group A at 19:30.

Other matches are Indonesia vs the Philippines in Group A; and Malaysia vs Thailand, and Myanmar vs Vietnam in Group B.

Indoor Volleyball events at the 32nd SEA GAMES are taking place in Phnom Penh on May 3-4 and May 6-14, 2023, while Beach Volleyball events from May 11 to 16 in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province.

Besides Indoor Volleyball, Obstacle Race competition also started this morning with two categories – Men’s Individual and Women’s Individual.

Run from May 3 to 7, the competitions are held at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh with the participation of six countries: Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Obstacle Race was first introduced in the SEA Games 2019 in the Philippines, but not included in the SEA Games held in Vietnam in 2022.

To date, there are seven SEA GAMES 2023 sports having kick-started competitions before the official Opening Ceremony on May 5 – Cricket, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), Football, Hockey, Sailing, Volleyball, and Obstacle Race.

Regional athletes are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 held in Cambodia from May 5 to 17.
