H.E Dy Khamboli, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), this afternoon told AKP that the ministry had not yet decided when to reopen schools.

The spokesperson made the remark by rejecting an information shared recently on social media affirming that the ministry decided to reopen schools on July 19, 2021.

“This is a fake news. So far, the MoEYS has only been studying the school resumption [not yet allowed or decided on the school reopening] because the COVID-19 transmission in Cambodia does not seem to slow down,” he underlined.

MoEYS has announced to shut down all public and private schools across the country since Mar. 20, 2021 to prevent larger spread of the pandemic in the community, and encouraged online teaching and learning during this suspension period.
