Prime Minister Hun Manet Sends Flood Relief to Battambang Families

Battambang:Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has dispatched emergency food supplies and aid to 400 families affected by flooding in Battambang city. The distribution ceremony on Wednesday was led by Battambang Provincial Governor H.E. Sok Lou.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the aid targeted residents in the severely affected Sangkats of O'Mal, Chamkar Samrong, Sla Ket, and Kdol Daun Teav. This initiative was executed through the National Food Reserve System, following significant rainfall that caused widespread flooding.

Governor Sok Lou emphasized the Royal Government of Cambodia's dedication to citizen welfare, highlighting that leadership from Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to the current Prime Minister has consistently focused on public safety and well-being during crises.

He advised residents to adhere to health and safety measures, particularly concerning waterborne illnesses, dengue fever, and other risks such as drownings and venomous animals. Families were urged to consume clean or boiled water, supervise the elderly and children, and begin rebuilding their livelihoods as floodwaters recede.

The governor expressed gratitude to local authorities, armed forces, and field teams for their swift response to the floods. He also encouraged parents to prioritize their children's education, obey traffic laws, maintain community cleanliness, and avoid illicit drugs.

Additionally, Governor Sok Lou reminded eligible citizens to register for the upcoming elections and urged previously registered voters to update their biometric information, including photos and thumbprints, during the voter list update period from Oct. 7 to Nov. 30, 2026.
