President of UNGA’s 76th Session to Visit Cambodia Next Week

H.E. Abdulla SHAHID, President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), who is concomitantly Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, will pay a working visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on Aug. 21-22, 2022.

The planned visit was revealed by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release made public this evening.

During the visit, it pointed out, H.E. Abdulla SHAHID will pay courtesy calls on Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The President of the 76th Session of the UNGA will also have a meeting with H.E. OUCH Borith, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, and Standing Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the source added.

“H.E. Mr. Abdulla SHAHID's visit will emphasise the constructive roles played by Cambodia in the UN, especially in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair, along with the roles of ASEAN and the UN in reinforcing multilateralism to address global issues, including climate change, post-pandemic recovery and sustainable development,” it underlined.

Revitalising the UN and strengthening the ASEAN-UN partnership will also be among the topics for discussion, the press release concluded.
