PM Thanks All Stakeholders for Their Anti-drug Efforts

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this afternoon thanked the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) and all relevant ministries and institutions for their implementation of a government's regulation on strict measures against illicit drugs with effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability. According to the Premier, from the issuance of the regulation on Feb. 20, 2024 to April 29, 2024, a total of 56,445 civil servants and armed personnel have undergone urine drug testing, of them 76 have been found positive. The 76 civil servants and armed personnel positive for drugs will be expelled from their jobs and sent for treatment and rehabilitation. Last week, Cambodia launched a mobile app called 'NoDrug' to promote two-way communication towards the elimination of the use and trafficking of illicit drugs in Cambodian families and society. The new app will further promote public awareness on the harmful effects of illicit drugs, especially among students, to enable them to better prot ect themselves, their families, and their friends, explained H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information and Chair of the Education and Dissemination Commission of the Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign, at the launching ceremony on April 23. It will also serve as a platform where users can submit questions and suggestions and report cases related to drug crime to pertinent authorities for their support and response, he added. H.E. Neth Pheaktra also called on active engagement among all players in the community, not only in using the app but also in reinforcing the crackdown and prevention of illicit drug cases, including the promotion of the Safe Village Commune/Sangkat Policy.
