Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presided over the Cambodia Night, an event sponsored by WorldBridge Group to promote foreign businesses in Cambodia, held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland on May 24, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022.

In his opening remarks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said as Cambodia is assuming its role as the Chair of ASEAN in 2022, this is the first time for Cambodia to host the Cambodia Night at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting to showcase to investors and tourists about Cambodia’s past achievements, potential investment opportunities, culture, traditions, food, and its other potentials.

The Premier also laid stress on Cambodia’s full peace, political stability and unprecedented rapid development in the modern day.

Recently, he continued, with the success in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambodia is among the first countries in Asia to relax testing requirements and other requirements for vaccinated travelers, in order to facilitate business and tourism activities.

“This decision is made possible mainly thanks to the proactiveness and diligence of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to quickly and timely procure vaccines for its people. As of 1st May 2022, more than 93.36 percent of the total population have been vaccinated. This has allowed Cambodia to achieve full herd immunity, and thus to re-open the country and all socio-economic activities since 1st November 2021,” he pointed out.

Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, the Founder and Chairman of WorldBridge Group, said since Cambodia joined the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2004, Cambodia has been moving forward vigorously, both regionally and globally.

He mentioned about the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement and the Cambodia-Republic of Korea Free Trade Agreement as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) which will significantly contribute to boosting the Kingdom’s economic confidence and bringing in more new foreign direct investment.

With all these possibilities, Cambodia is one of the fastest growing free market economies in the region, he underlined.

Eleven (11) traditional Khmer dishes, including Num Banchok, Korko, Amok and so on, and may Cambodian-made products have been presented to the international participants on the occasion.
