PM Hun Sen Presides over Handover Ceremony of Poland-donated COVID-19 Vaccines

The 300,000 doses of COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Poland will be handed over to Cambodia in an official ceremony held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Ms. Carmen MORENO, EU Ambassador to Cambodia, presided over the event.

The vaccines arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport last night after the flight was delayed many times.

With the newly-donated vaccines, Cambodia will have some 44 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines both through purchases and donations.

The number includes 29,424,800 doses of Sinovac, 7,800,000 doses of Sinopharm, 3,261,400 doses of AstraZeneca, 2,350,530 doses of Pfizer, 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson, and 188,160 doses of Moderna.

Of the vaccines, more than 3 million were donated through the COVAX Facility.

As of Jan. 29, some 89.70 percent of 16 million Cambodian population have been inoculated against the COVID-19 pandemic with the basic doses.

Cambodia has also donated COVID-19 vaccines to some countries in the region, including Lao PDR and Vietnam.
