PM Further Pushes Literacy as Lifelong Learning Basis

Cambodian Prime Minister re-emphasised the significance of literacy as basis for lifelong human capacity development, opportunity for better employment, and robust socio-economic recovery after the COVID-19 crisis.

The Prime Minister, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, made the points in his message to cheer the Sept. 8 National Literacy Day themed "Literacy is Foundation for Lifelong Learning".

To achieve the said objectives, he encouraged all concerned government's ministries and institutions to make available necessary policies, legal frameworks and mechanisms to support lifelong learning of all Cambodians.

He added that those enablers must be well aligned with and responsive to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the COVID-19 recovery efforts.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister called on the ministries, institutions, education centres, pagodas, local authorities, development partners, the media, manufacturers, and the private sector to join hands to diversify access to literacy for all.

With literacy, it comes a right-thinking process and proper decision making, literacy leads to further community development, and it paves way for prosperous living of individual, family and society, he underscored.
