Chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC) H.E. Prach Chan has affirmed the committee’s readiness for the National Election on July 23, 2023, in terms of materials and forces to ensure security, safey and public order during the election.
H.E. Prach Chan made the affirmation in a meeting here yesterday with a delegation from the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) led by H.E. Désiré NYARUHIRIRA, Special Adviser to the OIF Secretary-General on Diplomacy and Political Affairs, who came to Cambodia to observe the upcoming 7th National Election.
He briefed his guest on each stage of the election process, including voter list verification and voter registration, registration of political parties and candidates, election campaign and voting, ballot counting, and announcement of results.
The NEC chairman also informed the OIF delegation about the procedures for filing and resolving complaints, training of all relevant parties at all stages, and voter education and outreach.
For his part, H.E. Désiré NYARUHIRIRA said that Cambodia is an important member of the OIF and that his delegation’s visit to Cambodia this time is to strengthen the relations between the Kingdom and OIF. During the visit, the delegation wanted to meet with election institution, political parties and a number of NGOs.
At the end of the mission, the delegation will issue an election-related report, including recommendations and shortcomings for the Cambodian side to complement.
