MoU Signed to Bolster Religious Tourism

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Cults and Religion signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and commitment toward developing religious tourism.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the MoU was signed by Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and H.E. Chay Borin, Minister of Cults and Religion. The event, attended by 130 senior officials and representatives from both ministries, took place at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters.

The Ministry of Tourism stated that the agreement aims to expand the promotion of Cambodia's religious tourism potential. Key objectives include increasing tourist arrivals by diversifying religious events, organizing hospitality and tour guide training for the religious sector, and improving infrastructure to support religious tourism products.

H.E Huot Hak mentioned that Cambodia's foundation is deeply rooted in culture, history, and religion, emphasizing that religion plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and social harmony.

The MoU affirms a shared vision to promote religious and cultural tourism with a focus on resilience, sustainability, and inclusiveness. 'Through this cooperation, religious heritage will be transformed into an engine for economic and social development,' stated H.E. Huot Hak.
