MoU on the Preservation of Ancient Temples Signed

The APSARA National Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Build Bright University and Angkor University in Siem Reap province on the preservation of Ancient temples.

The signing ceremony took place in front of Banteay Samre Temple under the witness of H.E. Kim Sothin, Deputy Director General of APSARA National Authority.

According to the authority’s news release, the signed MoU will allow architecture students at both universities to learn about ancient architecture and gain experience in stone conservation by the working group of German experts at Banteay Samre Temple.

Addressing the function, H.E. Kim Sothin said that this is a good opportunity for both private universities to participate in training students to know about ancient temples to contribute to the heritage conservation and preservation.

Vice Dean of Angkor University and Chairman of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering, Mr. Pin Somony and Mr. Chhuon Phearun, Branch Director of Build Bright University, Siem Reap expressed their strong hope that the APSARA National Authority, a professional body that manages the Angkor site, a world-famous heritage site, and the German GIZ experts will help train students from the two universities to have the full ability to contribute to the preservation of ancient temples in the future.
