Phnom penh: The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), in collaboration with UNIDO, hosted a workshop to promote renewable energy, public water supply, and the application of Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) tools such as resource efficiency and clean production for special economic zones (SEZs) and industrial parks (IPs).
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the workshop, held in Phnom Penh on Nov. 18 under the presidency of H.E. Tung Siny, Secretary of State of MISTI, brought together representatives from development partners, private sector and key ministries-institutions, including the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Electricity Authority of Cambodia, Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, Svay Rieng Water Supply Authority, GGGI, and operators of SEZs and IPs nationwide.
The workshop aimed to share recent findings and challenges related to renewable energy and access to public utilities in SEZs and IPs, gather inputs on strategies to expand renewable energy and clean water services, and increase interest in green industrial solutions.
Participants also explored the use of solar energy and learned how EIP tools can support Cambodia’s transition toward more sustainable and competitive industrial development.
