Men’s Chess: Cambodia Beats the Philippines on 4th Day of Competition

Cambodia defeated the Philippines in round 3 for Men's 60-Minute Triples in Group A on May 2, the fourth day of the Ouk Chaktrang (Chess) tournament of the 32nd SEA Games.

The Cambodian winners include Mr. Sok Limheng who won the title of “Sdech Ok” (King of Chess) in 2018 and 2023, Mr. Cheav Bora who was crowned “Sdech Ok” in 2014 and 2015, and Mr. Chea Sideth who got a bronze medal at the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 in Indonesia.

Today, there are four competitions for both men's and women's chess including Women's 60-Minute Doubles in rounds 5 and 6; and Men's 60-Minute Triples in rounds 3 and 4.

Cambodia yesterday beat Myanmar and Vietnam 1:0 in rounds 1 and 2 for Men's 60-Minute Triples in Group A, but lost to Myanmar 0:1 in round 4 for Women's 60-Minute Doubles in Group A.

Chess events taking place from April 29 to May 10 at the Royal University of Phnom Penh have attracting the participation of athletes from seven countries including host Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
