MADANI: ‘KPM EDUFLUENCER’ A CROWD-PULLER AT MOE BOOTH

GEORGE TOWN: The 'KPM Edufluencer' slot, at the Ministry of Education's (MOE) booth, was one of the crowd-pullers at the North Zone MADANI Rakyat Programme at Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong near here today. The slot not only featured five influential teachers but was also enlivened by an English spelling test activity "Spelling Bee", conducted by Cikgu Noor Ainulfahim Abd Rahim, also known as Mr Fab, on the TikTok platform. Noor Ainulfahim, a Form six English teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Penanti is one of the teachers selected by the MOE as Edufluencer 3.0 (educational influencer) in Penang who actively teaches the subject on TikTok and has garnered 9,813 followers so far. 'Nowadays, all information can be sourced from social media, therefore among the Edufluencer's roles are to be the ministry's agent in delivering information as well as being an example to other teachers… teachers who are innovative and able to attract students' attention in different ways," he said when met by Bernama. "Furt hermore, today the influence of social media is very strong, especially among young people, and it can be said that almost all school students have TikTok accounts." Therefore, he also utilises the platform as one approach to attract students' interest in learning English by uploading creative and interactive content so that it is easy to understand. Noor Ainulfahim said their presence today was to promote the services provided at the MOE booth, in addition to disseminating the ministry's agenda and plans at the three-day programme which ends on Sunday. Commenting on his selection as an Edufluencer, Noor Ainulfahim, who has been an educator for 13 years, said he started uploading content on TikTok in the middle of last year with the intention of spreading knowledge to improve students' mastery of the English language, but he did not expect it to receive a very favourable response with more 360,000 views. "Starting from there, I actively produced interactive content. After that someone suggested that I ent er the search for Edufluencer 3.0 and thank God I was selected," he also said. In addition to Noor Ainulfahim, four other Edufluencers who were invited to enliven the slot are Nurul Aini Mohd Yunus, a teacher from Batu Lanchang Vocational College, Nadia Zulkifli, a teacher from Sekolah Menengah (SM) Sains Tun Syed Sheh Shahabudin, SM Sains Kepala Batas teacher Dr Nurul Syazwani Ismail, and an official from the Northeast District Education Office (PPD) Muhd Azlan Ithnin. Edufluencer, an MoE initiative via the Education Implementation and Performance Unit (PADU), is one of the efforts to recognise the role of teachers in making the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013-2025 a success.
