(LEAD) Live bullet found inside flight attendant’s luggage at Incheon airport

Police have launched an investigation after a live bullet was found inside the hand luggage of a Korean Air flight attendant during baggage inspection at Incheon International Airport, officials said Thursday. A 7.62-millimeter-caliber live ammunition was found in a carry-on bag belonging to a female flight attendant as she prepared to board a Korean Air flight en route to Bangkok at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to airport police. Police collected the live bullet and had the flight attendant travel according to schedule. They plan to bring her in for questioning as soon as she returns from her trip. The flight attendant allegedly brought a pouch carrying the old bullet from her parent's home without checking what was inside and had no intention of bringing the bullet on board, according to an internal probe from the airline. Korean Air vowed to actively cooperate with the police investigation and take the incident as an opportunity to strengthen safety training for all employees. In March, two live bu llets were found under a passenger seat on a Korean Air plane about to take off en route to Manila, the Philippines, causing more than 200 passengers to evacuate.
