Laos Thanks Cambodia for Anti-COVID-19 Assistance

The Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has thanked Cambodia for its assistance, both in cash and medical materials for contributing to the fight against COVID-19 in Lao PDR.

The gratitude was expressed by Lao Prime Minister H.E. Phankham Viphavanh in a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA)of Cambodia, here at the NA Palace on Nov. 30.

The Lao Premier also highly valued Cambodia’s rapid development reflecting the successful leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Moreover, he congratulated the Kingdom on the successful hosting of the 13th ASEM Summit last week, which has greatly shown Cambodia's prestige on the international stage.

H.E. Phankham Viphavanh laid stress on the success of his official visit in Cambodia in further strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries in all fields, and especially both governments had pledged to work hard to resolve the remaining border issues in order to turn the borderline into an area of peace, development and brotherhood.

For his part, the Cambodian NA president welcomed the fruitful achievements of the strong friendship and cooperation that both Cambodia and Laos had attained in the past within the framework of the parties, governments and NAs.

Yesterday, Cambodia announced to donate US$13 million, of which US$3 million is from the Royal Government and US$10 million from the private sector, and 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, as well as 2 refrigerated vaccine transport vehicles to Lao PDR to support its efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lao Prime Minister paid an official visit to Cambodia on Nov. 29-30, 2021 at the invitation of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
