KYOCHON 1991 MALAYSIA IS OFFICIALLY HALAL-CERTIFIED

KyoChon 1991 Malaysia has become the first international Korean fried chicken chain to be certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

KyoChon 1991 Malaysia chief executive officer Terry Goh said 15 of its restaurants, namely 10 outlets in Selangor, two each in Johor and Penang as well as one in Negeri Sembilan, are now certified halal by JAKIM.

These restaurants are located at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Sunway Pyramid, Setia City Mall, IPC Shopping Centre, IOI Mall Puchong, Central i-City, Bangi Seksyen 9, Bandar Botanik Klang, Prima Sri Gombak, Cheras Traders Square, Johor Bahru City Square, The Mall Mid Valley SouthKey, AEON Mall Nilai, Arena Curve Penang, and Sentral Jaya Penang.

“Halal certification holds immense significance in Malaysia. All of our restaurants have already undergone the auditing process by JAKIM and KyoChon 1991 Malaysia will be announcing more halal-certified restaurants very soon,” he said in a statement today.

Goh said the official certification from JAKIM would reassure their customers that halal standards have always been a top priority and has been put in practice diligently when preparing their meals.

“JAKIM halal certification has always been an important goal for KyoChon 1991 since we launched the brand in Malaysia back in December 2013. We’re extremely fortunate that our franchisor supported us and invested in a multi-million dollar automated factory to produce the KyoChon 1991 sauces and seasonings.

“This meant that KyoChon 1991 customers in Malaysia can enjoy the same taste and quality of ingredients as if they were dining in KyoChon 1991 in Korea as all sauces and marinades come from the same halal factory,” he said.

He added that KyoChon 1991 was so grateful to Malaysians because of their support had enabled the brand to grow to 35 stores nationwide today.

“As Malaysia's pioneering Korean fried chicken chain, we are genuinely thankful that Malaysians have made us the most successful KyoChon 1991 operator outside of Korea.

“We want to assure all Malaysians that we have always adhered to the highest food and safety standards and are delighted to now officially be certified halal by JAKIM as a brand that you can trust,” he said.

To celebrate the momentous milestone, KyoChon 1991 Malaysia is giving 15 per cent off on all dine-in, takeaway, and web orders from May 12- June 13 with no minimum spend required.
