Cambodia this afternoon won seven more gold medals: 5 for Kun Khmer (Khmer martial art), 1 for Pencak Silat and 1 for Wushu at the 32nd SEA Games, bringing the host country's gold medal tally to 46.

Athletes Mab Theara, Phun Piseth, Kham Khlaneang, and Lao Chetra grabbed the gold medals after defeating their Vietnamese opponents in Men's 45kg, 48kg, 51kg, and 67kg categories, respectively, in four different matches taking place at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Moreover, Him Koemrieng defeated his Lao opponent to get the gold medal in Men’s 54kg category.

The number of gold medals in Kun Khmer earned by Cambodia now went beyond the targeted gold medal index at three set by the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

Besides, Kun Khmer athlete Sam Samnang clinched a silver medal after losing to her Vietnamese counterpart in Women’s 60kg category, while Cha Chanden and Sokry Kanika won bronze medals for Women’s 45kg and 48kg categories, correspondingly.

On the same day, Mr. Nun Sramoach Krahom grabbed a gold medal for Pencak Silat in Tanding below 45kg event.

The Wushu gold medal was obtained by women team – Chin Sros, Tin Bopha and Vy Sreyleak in Duilian event.

By far, Cambodia bagged a total of 46 gold medals including 10 in Vovinam, 8 in Kun Bokator, 7 in Kun Khmer, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, 2 in Pencak Silat, 1 Billiard and 1 in Wushu.

Regional athletes are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia from May 5 to 17.

The SEA Games 2023 is welcoming over 12,400 athletes, coaches, and staff from participating ten ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste.
