KOICA & CAMKAA Hold Annual Reception 2021

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA) held the “Annual Reception 2021” at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on Dec. 15.

The reception was presided over by Mr. Hyunjun RHO, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, Mr. Na Sang-deok, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. IM Sour, President of CAMKAA.

According to a KOICA’s press release, CAMKAA stands for Cambodia–Korea Alumni Association which is a non-political, independent, and non-profit organisation. CAMKAA was registered at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of the Kingdom of Cambodia in 2002. This association is under financial support from KOICA of the Republic of Korea. At first, this association's name is “I Love Korea Club”.

CAMKAA is a platform for over 3,368 government officials of KOICA training programme to sustain and strengthen the close cooperative relation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and Republic of Korea from 1994 until this year 2021, and CAMKAA has organised numerous social activities for local development in Cambodia in cooperation with KOICA Cambodia office.

CAMKAA Annual Reception is held annually. This event aimed at supporting the CAMKAA members to get to know one another close through gathering. It also played a role of providing space for sharing knowledge and know-how with Cambodian people as well as a building bridge among CAMKAA members, Cambodian and Korean people, and to expand and strengthen the friendship between Korea and Cambodia.

CAMKAA attained major achievements in 2020-2021, ranging from knowledge sharing workshop and charity event organisation to facemask, food and hygiene kit donation to low-income households, in collaboration with concerned stakeholders under the substantial support of KOICA Cambodia Office.
