Justice Minister Meets Two UN Senior Officials for Human Rights

H.E. Koeut Rith, Minister of Justice, held separate talks here yesterday with two United Nations senior officials for human rights, Mr. Vitit Muntarbhorn and Mrs. Roueida El Hage.

The meeting with Mr. Vitit Muntarbhorn, UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Cambodia, focused on the implementation of recommendations of the last survey of the UN Committee on the Right of the Child, prison overcrowding, and the establishment of juvenile court.

H.E. Koeut Rith underlined that Cambodia has been doing its best to solve all issues step by step based on possibilities, resources and real situation of the Cambodian society.

Besides, he laid stress on the Royal Government's efforts in the protection and promotion of human rights for the interest of the Cambodian nation.

In the meeting with Mrs. Roueida El Hage, new Country Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Cambodia, both sides discussed criminal justice data management system at capital-provincial courts and prosecutor’s offices, justice human resource development, legal aid and out-of-court dispute solutions, and so on.
