The Royal Government has announced to set June 3, 2024 as the second official mourning day for late His Holiness Buddhist Supreme Patriarch General Tep Vong, Buddhist Supreme Patriarch of Dhamma Mahanikaya of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to a directive released this afternoon, all flags at public and private institutions must be lowered to a third from the top of the flagpole, while all entertaining programmes on both public and private TV and radio stations are ordered to be postponed that day.
Venerable Tep Vong passed away in Phnom Penh on Feb. 26, 2024 at around 17:40, at the age of 93 years old due to natural causes. The first official mourning day was Feb. 27.
The body of Venerable Tep Vong has been being kept at Ounalom pagoda located in Sangkat Chey Chumneas, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh for religious rituals. The procession of the body from Ounalom pagoda to Botum Vattey pagoda for the cremation ceremony is scheduled for June 3.
