Japan Boosts Cambodia’s Rehabilitation Services with Grant Aid for Five Centres


Phnom penh: Japan has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting persons with disabilities in Cambodia through ongoing grant aid aimed at enhancing provincial physical rehabilitation services.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Khom Phaloeun, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Director of People with Disabilities Foundation under the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, met here on Oct. 7 with Mr. Ando Kenta, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, and Ms. Nana Hasegawa, Chief of the Embassy’s KUSANONE Grant Assistance Programme, to discuss the project’s progress and future cooperation.



H.E. Khom Phaloeun expressed profound gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their sustained attention and generous assistance. He specifically highlighted the KUSANONE Grant Assistance Project, noting its continuous, vital support, which has included the provision of essential technical equipment, facility repairs, and construction for persons with disabilities.



The assistance targets five key Physical Rehabilitation Centres across the country: the Centres in Kratie, Takeo, Prey Veng, and Siem Reap provinces, as well as the Kien Khleang centre and the Artificial Limb and Wheelchair Production Workshop in Phnom Penh municipality.



H.E. Khom Phaloeun stated his confidence that the project will “significantly contribute to improving the quality of physical rehabilitation services,” ultimately enhancing the well-being and capacities of persons with disabilities and promoting their active participation in social life.
