Government Allows Release of Detained Overweight Trucks

The Royal Government has allowed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to release the trucks arrested for a year for overloading.
The authorisation was announced by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in a Facebook post this morning.
A total of 229 trucks detained at weight stations and Departments of Public works and Transport in some provinces and capital will be released so that the owners can resume their businesses, but they must pay a fine according to the law before their release, he added.
Despite the release and relaxation on the occasion of Pchum Ben Festival, all vehicle owners and transport business owners are asked to respect and comply with the Law, the Premier said, asking the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to continue to strictly enforce the law against overweight trucks without exception for the second time.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the ministry to disseminate more widely relevant laws and regulations to the general public.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to commend the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and relevant authorities at all levels for their efforts on overweight transport restrictions.
