The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance collected US$2,065 million as customs revenue in the first 11 months of 2021.

H.E. Kun Nhim, Director General of GDCE, said on Dec. 15 that the 11-month revenue accounted for 97 percent of the yearly target.

The customs revenue is expected to increase thanks to the resumption of economic activities, increase in the demand for goods, the trend of high demand of imports at the year end, and so on, he explained.

During the same period, the General Department of Taxation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance earned US$2,560 million, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent.

Total revenue from GDCE and GDT topped at US$4,625 million in the period.

At the inauguration of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh Hotel yesterday, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen stated that after the country’s reopening, tax revenues recovered from declining during the COVID-19.

The Premier said that before the pandemic crisis, the government could collect around US$500 million to US$700 million a month, but it fell to around US$400 million amid the crisis.
