French and Khmer Volunteers Deliver Urgent Medical Care to Displaced Families in Banteay Meanchey

Banteay meanchey: A joint French and Cambodian medical mission is providing critical health support to displaced families sheltering at the Chan Sy Samaky Ratanaram Safety Centre in Banteay Meanchey province.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the two-day humanitarian mission, which runs from Nov. 16-17, was organised by the Association Mission Humanitaire au Cambodge (AMH), a group of 15 French volunteer doctors, in partnership with local Cambodian medical personnel. The teams are offering free general health check-ups and treatment to families, most of whom recently fled violence in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages in O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district.

The launching ceremony underscored the mission’s importance, drawing senior national and provincial leadership: H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Banteay Meanchey; H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey, and H.E. Pol Lim, Head of the Senate Working Group for Region 4.

During his address, H.E. Pol Lim commended provincial and district authorities for ensuring the proper organisation, safety, and order of the facilities for the displaced families. He also extended sincere thanks to both the local and volunteer medical teams for their dedication and commitment to providing care during this challenging time.

H.E. Pol Lim used the occasion to call on families residing at the safety centre to exercise patience, cooperate closely with authorities, and maintain confidence in the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister. He assured them the Royal Government is actively working to resolve border tensions with Thailand and restore stability.

“He urged all Cambodians to stay united in supporting national efforts to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” stated H.E. Pol Lim.

H.E. Dith Tina also expressed his profound gratitude to the Cambodian Senate Second Vice President H.E. Dr. Thun Vathana for coordinating with AMH, describing the free medical mission as a meaningful contribution to supporting those affected by the ongoing crisis.

For his part, H.E. Oum Reatrey reaffirmed the provincial authorities’ strong and continuous commitment to the welfare of the displaced communities. Many families who received aid voiced their deep appreciation for the compassion and assistance shown by the Cambodian and French volunteer teams, as well as the authorities, during their temporary stay.
