AKP Phnom Penh, A total of 181,024 domestic tourists were recorded in the first weekend of December, according to Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon.

The figure shows an increase of 4.65 percent compared to the previous weekend, H.E. Minister said.

Of the domestic visitors, 175,716 were national tourists, and 5,308 were foreign tourists, he pointed out, stressing that the most visited tourism destination was Preah Sihanouk coastal province, followed by Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Pursat, Kampot, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kep, and Mondulkiri.

Cold weather is one of key factors for the influx of domestic tourists across the country, even though there are no national holidays.

All provincial and municipal administrations and tourism departments have been actively promoting and implementing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) introduced by the Ministry of Tourism to ensure the operation of tourism-related businesses in the new normal.
