DPM Prak Sokhonn to Attend 56th AMM and Related Meetings in Indonesia Next Week

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to attend the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (56th AMM) and Related Meetings, at the invitation of his Indonesian counterpart H.E. Ms. Retno L.P. Marsudi.

Themed "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth," the 56th AMM and Related Meetings will be held from July 11 to 14, 2023 in Jakarta, the Republic of Indonesia.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued this morning, the 56th AMM and Related Meetings will centre the discussions on exploring innovative approaches and means to further advance the ASEAN Community building process while fostering greater unity and solidarity of ASEAN through concrete actions.

The deliberations will also encompass the preservation of ASEAN's pivotal role as a catalyst for sustainable global growth and address a range of regional and international issues of common interest and concern, it added.

These gatherings present an opportunity to further enhance ASEAN centrality and reinforce ASEAN's external relations with all Dialogue Partners and other external parties to ensure that ASEAN remains highly relevant as the "Epicentrum of Global Growth", the source underlined.

On the margins of the 56th AMM and Related Meetings, it pointed out, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Secretary-General of ASEAN will pay a courtesy call on H.E. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, and witness the signing of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) by several countries.
