Dara Sakor International Airport to be Ready for Test Late this Year

The Dara Sakor International Airport construction is expected to be finished in October and the test launch will follow, hopefully late this year.

The update was shared yesterday by H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) in a meeting with a delegation of the Chinese-owned Union Development Group (UDG) that invested in the construction.

The two sides discussed the preparation for the construction completion and the test in accordance with the technical specifications toward an official launch of the airport.

UDG invested US$3.5-billion to build the airport on the land area of 4.5 hectares in Botom Sakor district, Koh Kong province.

It is one of three airports currently under construction in Cambodia, and the other two are the new Phnom Penh international airport located in Kandal and Takeo provinces, and the new Siem Reap international airport in Siem Reap province.
