COVID-19: New Cases Keep Decreasing, but New Deaths Remain High

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s new COVID-19 cases continue to drop, at only 14 this morning; bringing the tally to 120,286, said a press release of the Ministry of Health.

These are PCR test results, underlined the same source, adding that 2 of them were imported and the rest were linked to the Feb. 20 community outbreak.

Unfortunately, the death toll remain high with 4 new deaths recorded (2 of them have not been vaccinated) or almost 30 percent of the new infections. The total death cases thus rose to 2,967.

However, the ministry reported 15 new recoveries; the total cured patients in the Kingdom stood at 116,642.

The first COVID-19 case was detected in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province. The confirmed cases have surged quickly this year due to the Feb. 20 incident.
