Colombian Mine Action Experts to Get Trained with CMAC in Siem Reap

Colombian mine action team members are going to arrive at the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC)’s headquarters in Siem Reap province for a training course with CMAC, said the centre’s Director General H.E. Heng Ratana on May 30.

This course of action can be organised after the COVID-19 conditions in both countries are getting better and under control, he added.

This training course, which focuses on the topic of Quality Management and Operations Standards, will last for two weeks from May 30 to June 9, 2022 with the participation of 15 Colombian trainees, including two women, H.E. Heng Ratana, pointed out.

Colombia is the first country to get the training under the South-South cooperation, supported by the Government of Japan implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in colloaboration with CMAC, he said.

So far, this programme has trained 173 Colombian mine action experts.

According to its online source, CMAC, established in 1992, is Cambodia’s leading demining organisation, working in the key areas of Survey and Land Release, Mine and UXO Clearance, Mine and UXO Risk Education and Training, Research and Development.
