Climate Friendly Tourism Businesses in Cambodia Boosted

Cambodia has launched a unique project to “Building Back a Climate-friendly and Inclusive Tourism Sector in Cambodia”.

Ministry of Tourism through the collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) launched the project here on Sept. 14.

H.E. Kuch Panhasa, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism presided over the launching event participated by representatives from relevant government bodies, local authority, development partners, private sector, and the media.

Addressing at the ceremony, H.E. Kuch Panhasa, appreciated WWF and SDC for initiating the project to rebuild tourism sector and promote eco-tourism to ensure environmental sustainability in Cambodia and inclusive tourism.

He encouraged the private sector as well as enterprises to use solar energy to contribute to promoting clean environment and secure cost-effective operation.

The move will support Cambodia to achieve eco-tourism target for green, high quality and competitive service, he added.
