Cambodia’s Education Minister Lauds Stakeholders as Reform Drive Gains Momentum

Phnom penh: Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, today commended the nation’s educators and partners for their critical role in advancing the country’s ambitious education reform agenda. Addressing the opening of the 2025 National Teachers’ Conference, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron highlighted the collaborative efforts that have underpinned the sector’s “notable progress.”

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the conference is centred on the theme, ‘Teachers at the Heart of Education Reform: Research, Policy and Practice for the Ethical Use of Modern Technology and Artificial Intelligence.’ ‘This year’s theme aligns with our strategic policy to strengthen the teaching profession for the future,’ the Minister stated. He emphasised the urgent need to build digital competencies among educators, enabling them to harness modern technology and artificial intelligence to elevate the quality of education nationwide.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron reported that teacher training institutions and new-generation schools are already integrating educational technology (EdTech) and AI into their ecosystems. These innovations, he said, are streamlining teaching, learning, research, administration, and student assessment. The conference has convened educators, researchers, policymakers, and development partners to contribute to the ongoing transformation of Cambodia’s education system.
