Battambang:Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has been actively inspecting flood-affected areas in Battambang and Banteay Meanchey provinces, emphasizing that saving lives remains the foremost priority for the government.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the efforts of provincial and district authorities, armed forces, volunteers, and other responders in assisting residents affected by the floods. He praised the swift actions of rescue teams in evacuating affected residents to safety in the two provinces and other flood-impacted regions across the country.
The Prime Minister also extended gratitude to national-level working groups, the National Committee for Disaster Management, and relevant ministries for their support in the flood response efforts. He highlighted the critical need for timely coordination among local authorities, security forces, volunteers, and national institutions in disaster response and resident protection.
The floods have significantly impacted 39 cities and districts in Kratie, Thbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Battambang, Pailin, Pursat, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, and Banteay Meanchey provinces. As of September 28, approximately 44,800 families have been affected by flash floods, with around 3,600 families forced to evacuate.
The Royal Government continues to focus on protecting lives and providing timely assistance as key priorities in addressing the ongoing flood situation.
